第二十九章 事毕需出海

Several days after the wind disaster, all residents of Lustrous Isle received instructions to check if any damage had occurred in the protective array that safeguarded the island.

The method was simple: each household would receive a spirit token from Lustrous Mansion. By hanging it for several nights and observing whether red light emerged, they could determine if there were any damages.

Special personnel were assigned to inspect other remote corners of the island.

"Ensure every node in the protective array is intact; 367,800 nodes must be checked," the Immortal Master's will dictated. To safeguard their own lives, all activities on Lustrous Isle were paused, prioritizing the maintenance of the protective array.

In previous times, the Immortal Master would oversee the repairs, but this time, due to the depletion of spirit stones needed to maintain the array, he had returned to Thousand Immortals Island for more. Li Fan also received a spirit token.

He hung it at home and felt an invisible wave emanating from it. The wave seemed to encounter an obstacle before reversing direction. A blue light flickered when the wave returned. After several breaths, the light extinguished, only to reappear again in a cycle.

"Each small cycle involves 360 flashes of the spirit token, and each large cycle consists of 360 small cycles," Li Fan recalled from his instructions. "The protective array is so vast yet meticulously detailed; it's hard to imagine how it was built."

Thousand Immortals Island was said to be where most cultivators gathered in this cloud sea region, mysterious and little understood even by Mr. Zhao.

"Only those who can cleanse their bodies of the demon mist and guide qi into themselves will be taken to Thousand Immortals Island by an Immortal Master," Li Fan thought.

It seemed his goal was clear: he needed to secure a spot on the fleet before entering the Purification Spirit Pool.

Li Fan, patient as ever, did not rush. Time passed quietly among the island's anxious residents.

Five days later, the results were in—no damage to the protective array. With enough spirit stones returned by the Immortal Master, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Life on Lustrous Isle gradually resumed its normal pace. In the following months, refugees from other islands sought refuge here.

Most survivors were few; many had perished in the recent wind disaster.

Upon learning that an Immortal Master resided at Lustrous Isle, these refugees' faces showed envy. The vast expanse of the cloud sea was home to countless islands, but only those with special resources hosted Immortal Masters.

During this period, Li Fan diligently practiced the Xuanhuang Qixin Spell every day and finally saw results.

Name: Li Fan Realm: Mortal Physical Age: 41/88↑ Psychological Age: 504/1119↑

Both age limits increased again, though minimally. This renewed his determination to practice diligently, spending most of each day on the spell.

A month later, Li Fan received word from Mr. Zhao that the fleet was preparing for another voyage.

The wind disaster in the cloud sea had passed, and the next fleet departure was imminent!

Three days later, at Lustrous Isle's dock, a large sea ship named "Cang Yuan" awaited. It was slightly larger than Taiyin Boat’s second form, measuring around 200 to 300 meters long.

Several large ships lined up on the water, creating quite a spectacle.

Due to the wind disaster, the fleet had been idle for some time, and Lustrous Isle owed considerable supplies. Thus, the island's leader ordered all ships to set sail.

This was a rare grand occasion; usually, only one or two fleets ventured out at once for safety reasons.

Residents gathered at the dock to watch. When they saw familiar faces on board, they waved enthusiastically.

Li Fan followed Mr. Zhao’s group onto the "Cang Yuan" ship.

Many crew members were first-time sailors, their faces filled with excitement and hope of sudden wealth.

In contrast, veteran sailors showed no enthusiasm; instead, they complained about the impending assessment: the least productive fleet would be deemedunqualified (unqualified) and lose future sailing privileges. This was worrying.

"Who knows what the island leader is up to? He's going to conduct some kind of evaluation. The least productive fleet will be disqualified! How can we handle this?" one crew member lamented.

"It’s all because of the wind disaster," another said, "I heard that Coral Island, due to a broken protective array, was completely destroyed. Their supplies are now our responsibility."

"What's going on? How can we survive?"

"Supposedly just temporary; as long as we make up for what we owe."

The crew sighed in unison.

"Don't look so pitiful! Think positively. The first-place fleet gets a reward—50% of their harvest instead of 30%!"

"Fifty percent? What does that mean? We could live off the proceeds without ever sailing again!"

Just then, a bronze-skinned man approached and began berating the crew.

"Boss, don't dream. First place? Your fishing skills are no secret; we barely meet our quotas."

"Right, in my opinion, this is our last voyage," another said.

"Why not just stay here as free-spirited pirates?"

Clearly on good terms with the crew, they laughed off his criticism without fear or hesitation.

Hearing their chatter, the bronze-skinned man remained unperturbed. Instead, he stood confidently, arms crossed.

"Boss, do you have a plan?" the crew knew him well and asked.

The man smirked, "Relax; there are experts on this ship. We'll all return with full holds."

He pointed to Li Fan standing behind him.

"Is it really him?"

"A pale guy—has he ever been out at sea?"

The crew looked closely but shook their heads in disbelief.

"You blind fools! You don't recognize a genius! This is Mr. Zhao's special guest, soon to take command of this ship!" the man barked angrily.

Hearing his words, "Cang Yuan" erupted with chatter. The bronze-skinned man turned and secretly smiled at Li Fan, pleased with his plan.
