第二十八章 天地有风灾

"Boss, this isn't right," Sun Zhang said with a tinge of pity. "That courtyard was bought for us using a lot of money to bribe Mr. Qian. How could we just give it away so easily?"

"But if we really want to give it to him, he should help us take back the fleet first."

The woman in yellow clothes rolled her eyes at Sun Zhang: "Just go where you're told. By the time that happens, a small courtyard won't be enough to settle things."

Sun Zhang muttered privately but ultimately didn’t dare defy his boss's orders and obediently handed over the deed to Li Fan.

Li Fan did not refuse; there was nothing much to clean up. He moved into the small courtyard on East Street that day.

The environment around this courtyard was far superior compared to the slums outside the city walls. The entrance had officials from Lustrous Isle overseeing security, and the yard itself was much larger than his previous residence. There were three main rooms in the main house and two each in the side wings. Although not large, it was sufficient for Li Fan to live alone.

After declining several maids sent by Heavenly Treasure Hall, Li Fan settled down there and quietly waited for the next voyage of the fleet.

Initially, Li Fan thought that wouldn't take long, but a sudden change made the departure date seem distant.

The wind disaster had come!

Li Fan had heard about wind disasters many times from the people on Lustrous Isle during his conversations. He hadn’t paid much attention to them, thinking they were just like typhoons or hurricanes he experienced before—just bigger storms.

But when the wind disaster actually arrived, Li Fan realized how wrong he was!

That day, while practicing the Xuanhuang Qixin Spell at home as usual, he suddenly heard a series of urgent sounds outside his house.

Strange and sharp voices echoed in the sky above Lustrous Isle, quickly spreading throughout the entire island.

"Go back home! A wind disaster is coming!"

"May the Immortal Master protect us, may the Immortal Master protect us!"

"Mama, where are you? Come home quickly!"

...

The island turned chaotic as panicked cries filled every corner. Li Fan was momentarily confused.

Suddenly, he saw a blue light curtain appear above Lustrous Isle.

The light curtain resembled an inverted giant bowl, spanning the entire island and enveloping everything within it.

"The protective array of the island has been activated; don't panic! Stay indoors and do not go out!" A clear female voice appeared alongside the light curtain, instantly spreading across the island.

"May the Immortal Master be merciful!"

Listening to the voices all around him, Li Fan raised his head and carefully observed the protective array.

Blue light flickered, separating the island from its surroundings.

Occasionally, unfamiliar characters appeared on the light curtain, appearing mystical.

A howling sound like that of a ghost began. The wind came!

Ripples spread across the light curtain, blocking all the strong winds.

Inside the light curtain, there was no wind at all; it was calm.

Rain started to pour down from the sky.

The raindrops fell so densely they almost formed lines, crashing against the light curtain.

Circles of ripples danced on the surface of the light curtain, completely isolating the torrential downpour outside.

Outside, it was a stormy deluge. Inside, everything was calm and peaceful.

"This is Immortal techniques?" Li Fan thought in admiration.

Although he had seen Cao Hong Dao Xuanzi's destructive powers that could destroy an entire city, seeing this protective array still made his heart race with desire and longing.

The heavy rain continued for nearly half a day.

As the rain gradually stopped, so did the wind. Just as Li Fan thought the wind disaster was over, he noticed something amiss.

Not only had the sky not cleared up, but it had become even darker.

An endless number of clouds appeared from nowhere, layer upon layer, pressing down on the island without end.

In an instant, everything turned pitch black.

The thick clouds seemed to be within arm's reach.

The clouds seemed to be brewing something. The silence on Lustrous Isle was brief but soon shattered.

"Boom!"

A thunderous sound exploded in Li Fan's ears.

Boom! Boom!

Thunderous sounds echoed from all directions, continuous and unending.

Like an endless symphony, they reverberated through the sky.

In this vast noise, Li Fan felt dizzy and disoriented. His vision blurred with golden spots, as if a giant stone was pressing on his chest, making it hard to breathe. He touched his nose, which kept bleeding.

Li Fan was startled but wanted to retreat indoors when suddenly he felt the ground beneath him shake violently.

Dizzy from the spinning world, Li Fan lost balance and fell to the ground.

As if being continuously struck by something, the earth trembled.

Looking up, Li Fan saw a massive wall of water that filled his entire field of vision. The wall of water, driven by the wind, descended with irresistible force towards Lustrous Isle!

The towering waves were about to crash down and bury everything below.

Li Fan instinctively raised his hand to shield himself.

"Boom!"

The giant wave crashed against the blue light curtain.

The light curtain twisted violently as if it was about to shatter.

But after a burst of blue light, the light curtain returned to normal.

Like rocks on the shore standing firm in the face of large waves, they didn't swallow Lustrous Isle but seemed to infuriate the sea.

Wave after wave kept coming.

Lustrous Isle truly resembled a small tree in a storm, at any moment ready to be torn apart.

There were many moments when Lustrous Isle was almost completely submerged by seawater. Li Fan nearly felt that this world would end here.

Fortunately, the protective array proved more reliable than expected and held firm without breaking down.

The giant waves continued their relentless assault.

This apocalyptic scene left Li Fan in a daze for who knows how long before the waves gradually calmed down.

But it was just a calm after the storm. The wind disaster came quickly but went slowly, making it hard to distinguish day from night.

Li Fan felt like two or three days had passed when the wind disaster finally subsided.

"Thank you, Immortal Master!"

The surviving islanders knelt on the ground and wept.

Under their chatter, Li Fan learned a more shocking piece of news.

This wind disaster was relatively small compared to the one fifteen years ago. That time, the power was several times greater than this one.

Back then, the protective array barely held up, forcing them to shrink its coverage area.

After the wind disaster, areas not protected by the array were completely ravaged.

Lustrous Isle's size shrank to only a third of its original size.

It took over a decade for Lustrous Isle to recover after the wind disaster, gathering survivors from all sides.

"Wind disaster... this is what a wind disaster really is..."

Li Fan was deeply shaken. The power of nature was truly terrifying!
