第五百三十五章 无限之未来

At this moment, speaking was a black-inked qilin. Its form was majestic and divine, but its voice was as clear and crisp as that of a child.

The Empyrean Yi, perched atop the myriad beasts, let out a series of deep chuckles after hearing the qilin's doubts.

"Experience is indeed a double-edged sword. It gives us the confidence to face crises, yet unknowingly pushes us toward the abyss."

A black mass rolled around, seemingly expressing its discontent.

"This great calamity differs from any we've faced in history."

"It originates from..."

At this point, numerous grotesque faces of beasts suddenly emerged within the Empyrean Yi's mass.

"Shut up, you!"

"What are you rambling about with these scraps! Those who don't listen will be swallowed whole!"

"What use is a myriad beast clan? In this world, I alone am enough!"

...

The bizarre scene left all the attending beasts silent and trembling.

But clearly, they had seen such strange phenomena before. Their eyes showed only fear, not surprise.

The black mass rolled again, swallowing those heads with harsh voices.

"Thus, this calamity exceeds what the Xuanhuang realm can resolve on its own."

"Without additional variables, everything in this world will eventually end in extinction."

The Empyrean Yi spoke solemnly. The beasts listened with grave respect.

"But since I promised to take you all away, I've already devised a way out."

The voice of the Empyrean Yi echoed through the space as if resonating with myriad phenomena.

"There's a sect called Heavenly Sword Sect among human cultivators. They aim to escape by learning from each other and accumulating strength. Their sources of power—cultivation methods, talismans, tools, arrays, pills, and medicines—are passed down generationally."

"The gap between us grows wider. Where does the future of the beasts lie?"

"I pondered this for three days and nights but couldn't find an answer."

"Compelling those mindless creatures to learn alchemy or crafting? Even I can’t do that. Just lying around, eating, drinking, and sleeping—why bother with effort if it leads to strength?"

"This is the predicament of the beast clan. While there may be some exceptional individuals, they cannot change the overall ecosystem."

It seemed like a lecture but also self-musing.

"So, you want to turn beasts into humans? Like you are now?" Stunned, Stucky exclaimed in disbelief.

Feathers on Li Fan's body stood up as he felt a sense of terror.

"Yes,"

"No."

The Empyrean Yi shook his head and then nodded.

"As the ruler of all beasts, I must think and decide from an overall perspective, not based on personal preferences."

Pointing at the ongoing beast assembly below, the Empyrean Yi said,

"I will lead the beasts out of Xuanhuang. Even with full confidence, this plan may fail. Even if the odds are a millionth, I need to consider it."

"To prevent the entire clan from perishing due to my decision, I must have an alternative plan.

Stucky scratched his head in confusion. "What exactly do you mean? I'm getting lost and can't understand anymore."

The Empyrean Yi waved his hand, and a tree with lush branches suddenly appeared before them.

At the end of one branch, Stucky saw his own reflection.

"What is this?" he asked puzzled.

"This is your future," the Empyrean Yi replied solemnly. "A possible future for the beast clan."

"Your destiny as a member of the beast clan is intertwined with this." The Empyrean Yi looked at the small Stucky, eyes filled with沧桑 (sorrow).

Stucky watched as the tree continued to grow and expand, lost in thought.

The branches displayed various scenes of the beast clan's future. Some were blood-soaked, with the clan's extinction; others depicted their peak glory from ancient times. Some showed harmony between humans and beasts establishing a glorious civilization together. Others were vague, filled with desolation and ruin.

"Infinite futures hold infinite possibilities."

"This means that even if the probability is minuscule, everything will inevitably happen given infinity."

"As the leader of the clan, I must consider every possible future for the beast clan's destiny.

The Empyrean Yi, though a child-like figure, spoke with weight like a mountain.

"This answers the question my senior brother posed to me."

"Though humans have potential and infinite possibilities, they are divided. They cannot harness their strongest forces collectively but instead squander themselves in endless internal strife."

"In times of calamity, they will suffer greatly."

"Perhaps luck might see them through, but over time, the more disasters they face, the higher the chance of extinction."

"But we beasts are different. With me here, I consider everything for my fellow clansmen.

Though they have their thoughts, in matters of life and death, they must follow our wills.

As long as I exist, the beast clan won't perish completely.

Since we can't compete with humans, just live long enough until they self-destruct."

The Empyrean Yi spoke with a hint of mockery. Stucky was full of indignation but couldn’t find words to refute him.

After a while, he said, "But how do you ensure that you won't die before the beast clan?"

The Empyrean Yi looked at Stucky silently and didn’t speak.
