第二百二十八章 上古身化道

Accompanying the overwhelming sense of weakness was a fragmented memory unique to Tianyang.

The master is a good person. Senior Brother One is handsome and kind. Senior Brother Two, though somewhat odd, is also good. Senior Brother Three remains silent but is the best person. ...

What nonsense.

Li Fan spent a long time sorting through Tianyang’s chaotic memories. He was brought back to the wilderness by his master and raised there. Since childhood, he had been frail and sickly, needing medicine daily just to maintain his health. Fortunately, though few in number within their sect, his senior brothers were all good people who took care of him.

...

Slowly lifting his head, Li Fan looked at his body, which was about the size of a five-year-old child. He finally understood what had happened. Children have simple minds. Tianyang, due to his weak constitution, could only move within the small confines of their mountain gate and spent most of his time in slumber. It was normal for him to remember those close to him.

"I don’t even know my master’s or senior brothers’ names."

"At least I know which sect we are in—transformed into Dao..."

Having clarified the situation, Li Fan tried to sit up and observe his surroundings. A sudden wave of drowsiness overcame him.

"This little guy's body is really weak." The thought flashed through Li Fan’s mind before he fell back asleep.

In a haze, he was unsure how long had passed when he heard a series of rapid and continuous bell sounds.

He tried to open his eyes but couldn’t. He fell into another deep sleep.

Next, Li Fan woke up to the sound of voices around him.

"What kind of nonsense is this 'seeking immortals' order? Why should we bother with it! Those major sects have thousands and even tens of thousands of members; sending a few people wouldn’t be a problem."

"Our sect, transformed into Dao, only has so many people. Do they really expect us to go on the front lines? What’s the logic behind this?"

It sounded like Senior Brother Ling Xiao was speaking. He had an odd temperament and a straightforward personality, always saying what he thought, making him impulsive.

"Nonsense! An order jointly issued by the Ten Immortal Sects, how can you just ignore it?"

"Didn’t we hear that the Starlight Dao was wiped out for refusing to comply with orders? It happened in an instant!"

"To be honest, our sect is far stronger than the Starlight Dao."

"That brat doesn’t know his place. He’s always spouting nonsense!"

"We can ignore it during times of peace. But now is different. Ling Xiao, you must be cautious and not bring any trouble to the sect!"

The old voice sounded resigned as he scolded sternly.

It was the same person who had fed him earlier—his master, the head of the transformed into Dao sect.

Senior Brother Ling Xiao remained silent in response.

The room fell into an awkward silence. Then a voice that seemed carefree broke the silence.

"I’ll go. What else can I do? I’m senior brother."

"Perfect timing. Let’s show those barbarians how sharp my sword is."

"Senior Brother Ling..." His master sighed and patted his shoulder.

Senior Brother Ling Xiao walked to the bed, looking at Tianyangpossession in Li Fan.

After a long while, he said, "Ah, too bad I won’t be able to say goodbye to Little Junior Brother when he wakes up."

Li Fan’s heart stirred. He was about to open his eyes and speak but suddenly felt another wave of drowsiness wash over him. He fell back asleep.

After some time, Li Fan woke again. This time, he felt much better, able to get out of bed and walk around.

"Master! Master!"

The room was silent, no one in sight.

Li Fan called softly.

"Junior Brother Tianyang, you’re awake?" A man in white rushed over.

His hair was disheveled, his eyes red with exhaustion.

"Senior Brother Two, what’s wrong with you?"

"Where are Master, Senior Brother One, and Senior Brother Three? Why can’t I see them?" Li Fan asked.

Ling Xiao gave a forced smile. "Don’t worry; they’re all in the hall discussing something."

"Look, this is an automaton puppet I promised to give you. It took me a lot of effort to get it." He handed over a small humanoid puppet.

Li Fan examined the puppet and found that its shape and appearance were similar to those he had seen later on.

"With this puppet, when you’re tired and can’t walk, it can carry you around. You won’t have to ride Senior Brother One all the time..." Ling Xiao’s voice grew softer as he spoke.

Looking up, Li Fan saw that Senior Brother Two's eyes were already red.

"Senior Brother Two..."

"Haha, nothing to worry about. Play with this puppet for a while; I have something important to discuss with Master and the others." With that, Ling Xiao patted Li Fan’s head and left.

After some time, Li Fan followed quietly. However, the door of the hall was tightly shut, and there seemed to be protective barriers preventing him from seeing inside.

Reluctantly, he decided to look around in other parts of the sect.

Suddenly, an idea came to mind. Li Fan manipulated Tianyang’s young body and struggled to reach the transformed into Dao sect’s ancestral hall.

Using all his strength, he finally pushed open the heavy door.

Among the few spirit tablets at the bottom, Li Fan found the one for Senior Brother One, Star.

After a moment of contemplation, he bowed and slowly left.

He closed the door again, intending to explore other areas. However, fatigue overcame him once more.

Feeling as if he hadn’t eaten in days, Li Fan’s body began to tremble uncontrollably.

"Tianyang's body seems to have some hidden illness; it’s not just ordinary weakness."

Struggling with his weakened state, Li Fan tried to control the tiny automaton puppet in his hand. In an instant, the puppet grew to normal adult size under his command and carried him back to his room.

"This puppet has more strength than a regular person but no cultivation," thought Li Fan as he lay down on the bed before falling asleep again.

After this, Li Fan was awakened by a thunderous voice.

"Senior Envoy, please spare our sect."

"Including me, there are only five of us in our sect."

"Just a few years, and I’ve already lost two disciples to the front lines."

"If we continue like this, my sect’s lineage will be cut off before the enemies even arrive!"

His master’s sorrowful voice continued.

However, the other party seemed indifferent. "Don’t complain to me. I know of worse-off sects; what does that matter?"

"Within seven days, you must send one more person with the team."

"Otherwise..."

"Die one by one or all at once—choose!"
